🗣Your Body Is Trying To Tell You Something!🗣
A few years ago, I suffered from a lot of numbness and tingling in my fingers and toes and a consistent, low-grade, headache in the back of my head. I didn’t know what it was and over the years went to my primary care physician, a Neurologist, Dentist, Ear, Nose and Throat Dr., and even an Infectious Disease Dr. (yikes). They all seemed stumped and were toggling between TMJ, lime disease and multiple sclerosis shiiiit! Literally, my body was trying to tell me something and I wasn’t listening until the pain got so uncomfortable that I had no choice. 🙄🤷🏽♀️
During that year, I went through many painful tests, spent lots of money and time and had nothing to show for it. The Neurologist told me that even though she wasn’t sure, she’d still prescribe a medication that I would have to take indefinitely.😑 Something didn’t feel right so I didn’t take the medicine but was in constant fear of not knowing what the root of the dis-ease was. I got a second opinion from a holistic practitioner who told me very quickly and bluntly to take the grains out of my diet. 😳 Now, hole’ up, that meant I had to consider removing my most favorite foods of all time – pizza, chocolate chip cookies, pancakes, and oatmeal. What the what🤬? After grieving the idea of losing my fave foods I realize that I didn’t have anything to lose except pain and numbness. Slowly, (very slowly, mind you) I took those things out of my diet for at least three months and lo-and-behold the tingling and numbness went away. I was sort’a hurt because I knew that I wouldn’t be able to eat my favorite things anymore but grateful for knowing the root cause and eventually feeling better. I’ll be honest that I did have a few cheat days and snuck a an entire slice of pizza here and there but paid for it immediately as the symptoms came back and with a vengeance. I knew this way of eating had to become a lifestyle. Le sigh…😒

The real travesty was that none of those high-priced doctors with all of their high-priced tests were able to tell me something so basic as taking grains out of my diet would cure me! It made me realize for the first time, that I needed to get to know, listen and take action when my body’s low grumbles started because eventually those low grumbles would turn to high-pitched screams.
So, the next time you feel that consistent tingling, headache, stomachache, pain, or numbness; consider taking a moment to ask your body…”Hey, body, what are you trying to tell me?” I promise she/he will answer and with action, you may have been able to dodge a bullet aka diagnosis.
