I know, I know, kind’a harsh, right?! Well, the truth can be sometimes. I can see your side-eye all the way from here. Today is not naturally the first day of the new year. It is simply the first day of the year on the Gregorian Calendar. See for yourself!
FACTS:
The vernal equinox is actually considered the new year and that isn’t until March 20, 2019. So, no need to stress yourself out during this season to set all of those New Year’s resolutions. Now is the time to go within, hibernate and plant seeds to blossom in the spring.
Let’s flesh this out a little, think about that New Year’s Eve party you are planning for tonight. Yeah, I know you’ve got your outfit ready, some fun plans, or have decided to spend a quiet time at home. I know the pot of black-eyed peas and cornbread is on deck for tomorrow. You gonna be switching between BET, MTV, and Dick Clark (…cause you not gonna recognize any of the performers anyway…) Then…10, 9, 8… 3, 2…1 – BOOM, Happy New Year! And then that’s it! You kind’a look around, waiting to feel the tingle.…
Now see, that’s how they get us. Just think about it, summer is ending and before you can put your bathing suit back in the closet they got them damn Halloween
Consider these tips to bring in the “New Year”. You ain’t got nothing else to lose since your New Year’s Eve resolutions are normally scrapped by February anyway.
Rest: Give yourself a chance to unplug, do a digital detox from all electronics, sleep and allow your body to restore, repair, and rejuvenate.
Write in Your Journal: Pray and meditate about your dreams and what you’d like to see come to fruition during this spring of new beginnings, write them in a journal –
Clean: Sift and sort thru your closets, car, drawers, cabinets and donate, or trash the things that don’t serve you any longer. Release the old to make room for the new!
